Studies of Light is the mulitmedia art of DRJR.
DRJR uses light to explore the intersections of time, space, place, and bodies, through place-based, feminist, accessible methods. Working in painting, photography, drawing, light, experimental video, and multiple genres of writing, the works of DRJR reflect aesthetic and erotic embodiments and translations of light in all its forms. She is particularly interested in dialetic tensions between light/dark, grief/love, death/life, trauma/healing, bodies/desire, suffering/liberation, inclusion/exclusion, connection/dispossession, memory/identity, and motherhood.
All photography is unedited and unfiltered: as light itself is both the subject and object. All artwork, images, photographs, painting, video, and text on entire website are original and copyright of DRJR, and are not to be reproduced without permissions.
DRJR is the moniker of Dr. Jessica Ruglis, who is an Associate Professor of human development at McGill University. She lives in Montréal and parents a child beyond her wildest dreams.
Website is in the final stages of development. Please check back at end of February 2026 for full portfolio across all media.
